Do you know how to tinker, clean, refinish, or upholster furniture? Help us rescue furniture from the landfill and support vulnerable communities on Monday April 18th, 2pm – 7pm at the Tacoma Dome. Fill out an application to participate.

This Earth Month, Tacoma Environmental Services is partnering with Zero Waste Washington to collect, and fix worn furniture to be donated to Washington resettlement and service organizations that serve refugees and low-income families. Fixers and apprentices will repair upholstered or wood chairs, tables (side, coffee, or dining room), dressers, small sofas, cribs, and lamps.

Terms of engagement: To make this collaboration convenient and rewarding for everyone, volunteer commitments are customized to individual needs. Zero Waste Washington will provide stipends to sustain equitable participation.

This project is funded through a Public Participation Grant from the Department of Ecology.
