Connecting Your Work to Earth Day South Sound 2020

Thank you for becoming part of this initiative! Use this guide to help communicate your involvement in the Earth Day South Sound campaign.

What is the Earth Day South Sound Campaign?

Earth Day South Sound 2020 is a year-long community stewardship campaign to celebrate, plant, and care for trees across the South Sound. We want to connect people more deeply with the trees around them while fostering a culture of environmental stewardship.

The goals of this initiative are centered on community building and meaningful action. We hope to count a healthy tree for every child through:

  • Increasing canopy cover in the South Sound by planting more trees

  • Encouraging residents to maintain and care for existing trees year-round

  • Integrating tree celebration and education opportunities with the work of our community partners

Who’s Involved?

An ever-expanding collaborative of organizations, businesses, and individuals committed to working together to plant and care for trees in the South Sound as a way of celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day.

Key Messages

  • Healthy trees are part of healthy communities--by protecting the air and water we rely on, they protect us.

  • Trees in our communities provide many benefits--cleaning the water flowing into Puget Sound; purifying the air we breathe; providing wildlife habitat; beautifying our neighborhoods; and so much more.

  • Protecting the trees we already have is an essential action we all can do.

  • Everyone can get involved in this campaign, whether by planting a tree, volunteering your time at a community event, taking our Tree Pledge, or by sharing your Tree Story with us!
